Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė congratulated Péter Magyar on assuming the office of Prime Minister of Hungary.
"Lithuania and Hungary are connected not only by our partnership within the European Union and NATO, but also by our shared historical experience. Our nations know the value of freedom, democracy, and sovereignty, and the responsibility to defend these principles.
At a time of growing geopolitical uncertainty, Europe needs leadership grounded in democratic values, responsibility, and service to the people. I am confident that our countries will continue working together to strengthen a united, resilient, and secure Europe," the Prime Minister said in her letter of congratulations.
Inga Ruginienė emphasized that Lithuania highly values Hungary's contribution to regional security, including the country's participation in the NATO Baltic Air Policing mission.
"Allied unity and solidarity remain essential for the security of Europe and NATO's eastern flank," added the Lithuanian Head of Government.
The Prime Minister also noted the shared responsibility to continue supporting Ukraine, its sovereignty, and its people in their struggle for freedom and a just peace.
Inga Ruginienė wished the new Hungarian Prime Minister and his cabinet every success in their work.
