Strong Champions Rural Communities, Delivers over $6 Million for Water and Sewer Improvements in North Alabama

WASHINGTON - Congressman Dale Strong successfully secured over $6.2 million in federal funding for key infrastructure projects in rural North Alabama communities. The funding was included in H.R. 5371, the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies bill, which was signed into law this week.

The $6.2 million in funding secured by Congressman Strong for community projects in Alabama's Fifth District includes:

  • $5,175,000 for the Town of Ardmore to construct a groundwater treatment facility to replace the town's existing failing wells and provide a sustainable, reliable source of drinking water for residents.

  • $1,087,500 for the Town of Triana to make critical sanitary sewer upgrades to ensure the system remains operational and able to provide uninterrupted service to residents during power outages.

"Every community deserves access to safe drinking water and reliable infrastructure," said Congressman Strong. "The Town of Ardmore has faced significant challenges with its aging wells, and this new groundwater treatment facility will provide a long-term, sustainable solution for families and businesses that rely on a clean, consistent water supply."

"As our town continues to grow, our aging tanks and limited capacity have made it difficult to keep up with demand. We've had to rely on outside sources for water just to meet the needs of our residents," said Billy Shannon, Mayor of Ardmore. "This federal funding will finally allow us to increase Ardmore's water capacity and provide a sustainable supply for years to come. We're a small town and couldn't have taken on a project of this size without help from Congressman Strong. This is a major victory for the citizens of Ardmore, and we're deeply grateful for his support."

Strong emphasized that federal investments in local infrastructure projects are critical to the long-term success and growth of rural communities across North Alabama.

"The improvements in Triana will strengthen the town's sewer system and ensure residents continue receiving dependable service without disruption," said Strong. "Modernizing this essential infrastructure will allow Triana to continue to grow."

"Congressman Strong has always been a champion for Madison County and the Town of Triana. When he served as Chairman of the Madison County Commission, he made it a priority to support local communities, and he's continued that same commitment in Congress," said Mary Caudle, Mayor of Triana. "This much-needed funding will allow us to make critical upgrades to our wastewater system and ensure reliable service for residents even during power outages. It's a major win for our town, and we're grateful for his continued partnership and support."

The funding is part of Congressman Strong's ongoing effort to ensure North Alabama receives its fair share of federal investments. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Strong has prioritized securing funding for projects that improve local infrastructure, strengthen public health and safety, and support rural development.

"These projects strengthen infrastructure and support rural communities. The people of North Alabama deserve to get a fair share of the money they send to Washington in federal taxes, and I am proud to have championed these projects," said Strong.

H.R. 5371 marks the first three of twelve Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) spending bills to be signed into law. As work continues on the remaining FY26 spending bills, Strong will continue to advocate for the priorities of North Alabama and hopes to secure further funding for additional projects.
