IMRF extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of IEA President Albert "Al" Llorens, who passed away at the age of 73.
As a teacher and labor leader, he dedicated his life to improving the lives of our students, teachers, educational professionals, and school support staff both in and out of the classroom.
"While advocating for policies that support students and teachers, Al always looked out for educational professionals and support staff, and fought for their retirement security," said IMRF Executive Director Brian Collins. "His passion and vision for our students, teachers, and educational professionals will always be remembered by those who had the privilege of working with him."
At IMRF, over half our membership are members of the IEA. They greatly benefited from his dedication to improving public education across the state and his tireless advocacy for all who worked in our schools. IMRF Employee Trustees Natalie Copper and Jason Isaac are both proud IEA members.
