President Gitanas Nausėda extended congratulations to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the people of Kazakhstan on the occasion of the Day of the Republic.
According to the President, Kazakhstan is Lithuania's key partner in Central Asia: the two countries maintain regular political dialogue and enjoy diverse economic and cultural ties.
"I am pleased to note the steadily strengthening cooperation between the European Union and Kazakhstan, as reflected in the decision taken at the EU-Central Asia Summit this past spring to elevate our relations to a strategic partnership. Lithuania stands ready to contribute fully to the strengthening of this partnership," the President wrote in his message of congratulations.
As Russia's aggression against Ukraine continues into its fourth year, it is more important than ever to uphold the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations - the sovereignty of states, territorial integrity and the right of nations to determine their own future, he underlined.
"I hope that Kazakhstan, as an important member of the international community, will contribute to the defense of these principles, in order to end Russia's aggression against Ukraine and achieve a just peace,"the message reads.
The President wished the people of Kazakhstan many peaceful and prosperous years ahead.
