City Service Changes for Veterans Day Holiday

The City of Tallahassee will close administrative offices in observance of the Veterans Day holiday on Tuesday, Nov. 11. Following are schedule changes for the week of Nov. 9-15 for solid waste customers living inside the Tallahassee city limits (red week), StarMetro, the Animal Service Center and City-run community centers.

Garbage and Recycling Collection
During the holiday week, some residential customers will receive service one day later than their regularly scheduled service. This includes garbage / recycling and yard waste / bulky pickup, which will impact red week customers:

  • Monday customers ► No change
  • Tuesday customers ► Wednesday, Nov. 12
  • Wednesday customers ► Thursday, Nov. 13
  • Thursday customers ► Friday, Nov. 14
  • Friday customers ► Saturday, Nov. 15

Customers are encouraged to set their collection bins behind the curb the night before their service day. Both containers should be returned to the home no later than the day after collection. StarMetro Routes
StarMetro, the City's mass transit system, will change its operations for the holiday. On Tuesday, Nov. 11, fixed routes will operate on a Sunday schedule with no night service, Dial-A-Ride will operate from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the StarMetro call center will be staffed from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

In recognition of their service, veterans can ride StarMetro's fixed routes fare free on Tuesday, Nov. 11, with identification.

Animal Services
The Animal Service Center will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11. Normal hours will resume on Wednesday, Nov. 12, with the center opening at 10 a.m. for appointments and walk-in kennel viewings available from 1-5 p.m. Customers needing more information, including photos of animals available for adoption and to report lost and found pets, may visit Talgov.com/Animals or contact the Animal Service Center at 850-891-2950.

City Animal Control will be available for emergency situations only on Tuesday, Nov. 11, and can be reached via the Consolidated Dispatch Agency at 850-606-5800.

City-run Community Centers
Community centers operated by the City of Tallahassee Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11. Centers will resume normal hours on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
