Chinese Embassy in Kenya Holds the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations

On June 10, the Chinese Embassy in Kenya and United Nations Office at Nairobi jointly held an event celebrating the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations. H.E. Ambassador Guo Haiyan, Director-General of the UNON H.E. Zainab Bangura, Kenya Permanent Representative to UNEP H.E.Ida Odinga, foreign missions in Kenya and UN staff, and more than 200 participants attended the event.

Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi noted in his video message that the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations was established in keeping with the Global Civilization Initiative. We should champion mutual respect and promote harmonious coexistence of civilizations, champion putting the people first and cement the foundation of exchanges among civilizations, champion both heritage and innovation to drive the progress of civilization, champion exchanges and mutual learning and improve mechanisms for dialogue among civilizations, and continuously consolidate the popular and cultural foundation for building a community with a shared future for humanity.

Amb. Guo elaborated on the important contemporary and practical significance of the Global Civilization Initiative, and introduced the report China's Action for Advancing Global Dialogue Among Civilizations to the guests.

Mrs. Bangura read the message of the UN Secretary-General Mr. António Guterres. Guests enjoyed cultural performances and film from Gansu and Hunan provinces.
