Weekly Lane Closure Advisory for the Interstate 85 @ State Route 42/North Druid Hills Project
WHAT: Weather permitting, Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will close lanes around Interstate 85 at State Route (SR) 42/North Druid Hills Road for construction activities.

*NOTES: Work schedule updates can be made daily. Check project web page often for the latest updates. Detour information is shown using redtext.

Closures marked with ** are in conflict- Only one of these closures will be implemented.

WHEN/WHERE: Traffic Impacts on I-85 and SR 42 from August 29, through September 7, 2025

Friday, August 29, at 12 p.m. to Tuesday, September 2, at 9 p.m.

***HOLIDAY LANE CLOSURE RESTRICTIONS - NO CLOSURES***

Daytime Closures:

Saturday, September 6, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • One, right lane on I-85 southbound from Clairmont Road to Lenox Road
Closures & Detours:

SR 42/North Druid Hills Road to I-85 southbound (ends at 11 a.m.) (Detour Map)
  • Motorists traveling on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road eastbound to I-85 southbound should use Buford Highway to access I-85 southbound.
  • Motorists traveling on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road westbound to I-85 southbound should continue on SR 42/North Druid Hills and use Buford Highway to access I-85 southbound.
Overnight Closures:

Tuesday, September 2, through Friday, September 5, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Various lanes on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road westbound from Briarcliff Road to I-85
  • Three, right/left lanes on I-85 northbound and southbound from Clairmont Road to Lenox Road (ends at 5 a.m.)
  • One, right lane on I-85 northbound off-ramp to SR 42/North Druid Hills Road eastbound (starts Thursday | ends Friday)
Closures & Detours:

I-85 northbound off-ramp to SR 42/North Druid Hills Road westbound (Detour Map)
  • Motorists traveling on I-85 northbound to North Druid Hills Road westbound should use I-85 northbound Frontage Road (Exit 89 B) and I-85 southbound Frontage Road to access SR 42/North Druid Hills Road westbound.
**SR 42/North Druid Hills Road to I-85 northbound (Detour Map)
  • Motorists traveling on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road eastbound to I-85 northbound should use I-85 northbound Frontage Road and Clairmont Road to access I-85 northbound.
  • Motorists traveling on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road westbound to I-85 northbound should use I-85 northbound Frontage Road and Clairmont Road to access I-85 northbound.
**SR 42/North Druid Hills Road to I-85 northbound Frontage Road (Detour Map)
  • Motorists traveling on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road to I-85 northbound Frontage Road should use I-85 northbound, Clairmont Road, and I-85 southbound Frontage Road to access I-85 northbound Frontage Road.
