The Knesset's recent blatantly discriminatory legalisation of the death penalty for Palestinians is deeply concerning and completely at odds with the EU's firm and long-standing stance against the death penalty under any circumstances.
At the same time, Israel's military actions in southern Lebanon - in connection with an illegal war in Iran - suggest a new protracted occupation that would violate Lebanon's territorial integrity and have devastating consequences for the civilian population.
This all takes place against the backdrop of the known severe violations of international law and international humanitarian law in Gaza and the West Bank.
Given the above and taking the EU's credibility as a global player committed to international law into account:
