Long Beach, CA - In observance of Independence Day on Saturday, July 4, 2026, the City of Long Beach facilities and services listed below will adhere to the following schedules on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4.

The City encourages residents and visitors of Long Beach to Celebrate Safely this Fourth of July, and all summer long, to ensure the enjoyment, safety and wellbeing for all. All personal fireworks, including sparklers and those labeled "safe and sane," are prohibited within Long Beach city limits.

The only safe way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a professional show. The City encourages residents and visitors to attend Long Beach's synchronized professional shows celebrating the United States' 250th birthday, taking place simultaneously on Saturday, July 4, at 9 p.m. in three areas stretching the city's shoreline-from barges positioned off Granada Beach, Junipero Beach and the Queen Mary. Community members can also attend one of the many other professional fireworks shows throughout the region.

Open on Friday, July 3:

  • All City parks and trails

  • Billie Jean King Main Library, all branch libraries (digital resources available 24/7)

  • El Dorado East Regional Park and Nature Center

  • Fire Stations and Lifeguard Stations

  • Long Beach Airport

  • Long Beach Animal Care Services and spcaLA

  • Main Police Station Front Desk

  • Marina offices (Alamitos Bay Marina, Shoreline Marina)

  • Gas Services Dispatch (562.570.2140) open 24/7 for emergency calls

  • Water/Sewer Dispatch (562.570.2390) open 24/7 for emergency calls

Closed on Friday, July 3:

  • Long Beach Public Library administrative office

  • BizCare Hotline (562.570.4BIZ)

  • Building and Safety services, including the Permit Center, inspections and plan reviews

  • City Hall

  • City-operated pools

  • City Prosecutor's Office

  • Code Enforcement services

  • Economic Development & Opportunity's Long Beach Workforce Innovation Network Adult and Youth Career Services Centers

  • Energy Resources Offices

  • Fire Headquarters, Support Services, Fire Prevention & Operations, including Marine Safety Administration

  • Health Department and Health facilities

  • Homeless Services Outreach Line (562.570.4672)

  • Housing Authority

  • Long Beach Airport Administration Offices

  • Long Beach Utilities Offices

  • Mobile Access Centers

  • Neighborhood Resource Center

  • Parks, Recreation and Marine programs and community park facilities

  • Oversized items and special collections pick-ups conducted by the Clean Team

  • Refuse and Recycling Administrative Offices

  • Special Events and Filming Offices

  • Street sweeping

  • Towing and Lien Sales

Open on Saturday, July 4:

  • El Dorado East Regional Park

  • Long Beach Animal Care Services open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for support with lost-pet reunification and assistance with found strays

  • Marina offices (Alamitos Bay Marina, Shoreline Marina)

  • Long Beach Airport flights and operations

Closed on Saturday, July 4:

  • City-operated pools

  • El Dorado Nature Center

City Hall
City Hall offices and public services will be closed on Friday, July 3, including commercial services typically available at City Hall, such as the Permit Center (located on 2nd floor), Cashiering/Payment Processing, Utility Customer Service, Billing and Collections, and Parking Citations. The public is encouraged to continue taking advantage of the convenient online resources available on the City website, including building permit services and bill payment options.

Street Sweeping
There will be no scheduled street sweeping or enforcement of street sweeping violations on Friday, July 3. Street sweeping will resume its regular schedule on Monday, July 6.

Parking Enforcement
Read your parking meter: Citywide parking violations, including parking meters, will be enforced on Friday, July 3, unless the meter states "Exempt on Holidays." The days and hours of enforcement are displayed inside the meters.

Refuse/Recycling
Refuse and recycling will be collected as scheduled on Friday, July 3.

Towing and Lien Sales
The Towing Operations and Vehicle Storage Facility (3111 E. Willow St., between Temple Avenue and Redondo Avenue) will be closed on Friday, July 3. Normal business hours are:

  • Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Closed Sunday and holidays.

Vehicles and property are available for release outside of the hours listed above for an additional fee. More information can be found online.

Libraries
All Long Beach Public Library locations and services will be closed on Saturday, July 4 and Monday, July 6. Libraries are not open Sundays per their normal schedule. Library patrons are encouraged to utilize the Library's vast collection of digital resources, including the Library catalog, downloads, and databases, available 24/7.
