IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 8, 2026 Albuquerque, NM - Tonight was the highly anticipated Gubernatorial debate hosted by KOB as we are just 26 days away from Election Day. As expected, Deb Haaland did not show up to face her opponent or answer questions about her record. RPNM releases the following statement: "Tonight, Gregg Hull made it abundantly clear why he is the only choice for New Mexico voters who want a governor who will show up for them," said Interim Chair Mike Nelson. "Not only does Gregg Hull have the experience and qualifications to turn New Mexico around on day one, but he also has an unparalleled work ethic, as he has spent this entire campaign talking to voters." In tonight's debate, Gregg laid out his plan for affordability: four steps to zero income taxes, with no impact on the state's budget or anyone's benefits. On public safety, Gregg Hull explained that law enforcement needs the resources to enforce laws and that bail reform needs to be reformed. Protecting law-abiding citizens is essential, and must be a top priority for any governor. This is also critical to economic development, as businesses do not want to come to New Mexico when safety is a major concern. Hull spoke about assembling a children's cabinet that will protect children's safety within CYFD. Regarding education, consistency and leadership are needed to stabilize the Public Education Department because a one-size-fits-all solution does not work across the state. On healthcare, Gregg Hull wants to incentivize doctors to stay in the state and create opportunity scholarships that will benefit all New Mexicans. Ultimately, his experience serving as mayor in a thriving economy for 12 years is the exact same vision he will bring to the entire state of New Mexico. ### |
