Governor Kelly requests a declaration of major presidential disaster

Governor Laura Kelly has sent a letter to the Federal Emergency Management Agency requesting a major presidential disaster for the Public Assistance Program due to damage to public infrastructure caused by severe thunderstorms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding during the period of July 17 - July 22, 2025.

"Our communities continue to be impacted by storms that cause damage to utility infrastructure, roads and bridges," Governor Kelly said. "It is important to have federal support available to these counties to assist in rebuilding their infrastructure."

Counties included in this request are Barton, Comanche, Edwards, Ford, Hodgeman, Johnson, Logan, Marion, Morris, Ottawa, Pawnee, Rawlins, Saline, Stevens, Sumner, and Wyandotte.
