Governor Polis Honors Veterans Day, Celebrates U.S. Marine Corps 250th Birthday

AURORA - Today, Governor Polis visited the Veterans Community Living Center at Fitzsimons to meet with residents who have bravely served their country, and to celebrate the U.S. Marine Corps' 250th birthday.

"To those who have served our nation, defending our freedoms, thank you on behalf of Colorado. Colorado is so proud of our military community and the immense contributions Veterans make to our communities, our state and our country. Veterans Day is a chance to recognize the selfless sacrifices that Veterans have made to protect our nation and our freedom. It's also fitting that this Veterans Day aligns with such a momentous birthday for the U.S. Marine Corps, demonstrating the central role the U.S. Marine Corps has had in our state and nation's history. None of these milestones would be possible without the incredible men and women of our Armed Forces, so thank you to each and every person who has served and is serving today. Happy Veterans Day," said Governor Jared Polis.

The Veterans Community Living Center at Fitzsimons is a skilled nursing facility run by the Colorado Department of Human Services and is specifically focused on caring for Colorado's veterans. Colorado is home to roughly 363,000 veterans.
