USDA Announces $500,000 Investment During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week to Benefit the Litchfield Ambulance Association

This Investment Will Help Provide Critical Infrastructure for a Community of 8,192 Residents

Litchfield, Conn., April 15, 2026 - U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Southern New England State Director Christopher Lyon announced the Litchfield Ambulance Association will receive $500,000 to build a new ambulance facility for the Litchfield Ambulance Association. The announcement comes during National Public Safety Telecommunicators week.

"As we mark National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, I am pleased to highlight a critical investment in the Litchfield Ambulance Association," said Lyon. "This new facility will strengthen emergency medical response, support our dedicated EMTs and paramedics, and ensure faster, more efficient care for the residents of Litchfield."

The investment comes in the form of a USDA Rural Development Community Facilities Grant and provides the Litchfield Ambulance Association with $500,000 toward the purchase of furniture, fixtures, and equipment for the ambulance facility. This project is vital to the safety of Litchfield County, which relies on ambulance services provided by Litchfield Ambulance Association. It will improve public safety by allowing rapid responses to emergencies, enabling quick dispatch of emergency vehicles to accident scenes, medical crises, and natural disasters. This facility is a vital component of Litchfield's emergency response system and will improve survival rates and outcomes for patients in critical situations.
