Thomas Hermsen earns admissions newcomer award

Marquette undergraduate admissions counselor Thomas Hermsen was named a recipient of the James A. Alexander Newcomer Award from the Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling at the organization's annual conference in April.

The award recognizes significant contributions by IACAC members with fewer than five years of involvement. Along with volunteering within IACAC, Hermsen serves on the Inclusion, Access and Success committee, which works to advance inclusion for underserved students and the educational professionals who guide them.

Hermsen works with the Illinois-based regional team with Jeanette Maher and Rosa Glombicki; he recruits incoming students and families located in the Chicagoland area and Northern Indiana.

"Thomas is a truly deserving recipient of the James A. Alexander Award from IACAC, recognized for his outstanding impact as an emerging professional in admissions," says Maher, assistant director of national recruitment. "His deep commitment to equity and access shines through in the meaningful difference he makes for students and families across the greater Chicago area."
