As we kick off 2026, Alexandria Health Department (AHD) and the Partnership of Alexandria (PHA) are sharing progress made on the 2025-2030 Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) and inviting residents to join the work.
Based on the recent Community Health Assessment, the City's next Community Health Improvement Plan will focus on three areas:
AHD and PHA have started community coalitions that include residents, community organizations, and others who work, pray, or play in Alexandria to set focus areas and brainstorm actions to drive change. Any resident or community member is welcome to join these efforts; there is no application or formal process to be a part of a coalition.
The Mental Wellness coalition finalized its 2030 vision statement: Alexandria is a community where everyone can feel safe, connected, and supported, because mental health and wellness are prioritized, accessible, and part of everyday life.
The group has also brainstormed potential focus areasto achieve that vision. Next, the coalition will vote on which focus areas will be in the plan.
You can cast a vote using our online pollor by attending the next meeting(details below).
The Landmark/Van Dorn coalition finalized its 2030 vision statement: Landmark/Van Dorn is a community where everyone has what they need to thrive. It is a neighborhood rooted in hope, strengthened by cultural richness, and connected by opportunities that lift every neighbor.
They also finalized neighborhood boundaries.
Next, the coalition will come up with potential focus areas. To weigh in, attend the next meeting(details below). These ideas will be voted on in a future online poll and meeting.
Over the past couple months, AHD and PHA have been working with residents and community partners to identify the best times and settings for meetings. Stay updated by signing up for the coalition email list.
RSVP below to upcoming meetings. Please RSVP by January 21 to request an interpreter. Light refreshments will be provided at each meeting.
In addition to these larger meetings, AHD and PHA are partnering with community organizations to hold smaller sessions with groups historically left out from decision-making. If you are interested in learning more or have ideas to support this effort, please email [email protected].
If you can't make it to a meeting but want to join a coalition, sign up for updates. More information is available on the CHIP website.
