Occident has set up a special unit to reinforce the care and service of its insured parties affected by the storm caused by ex-Hurricane Gabrielle, that has had a significant impact on the provinces of Tarragona, Castellón, Valencia, Alicante, part of the Murcia region and the Balearic Islands. Areas like Gandía have seen more than 350 litres of rain per square metre, while in the Valencian capital, up to 184 litres per square metre have been recorded.
Flooding is a compensable event covered by the Insurance Compensation Consortium (CCS). The CCS is a public body that is financed by a small amount included in the price of any insurance policy and which is deposited in a guarantee fund intended to cover extraordinary risks among all insured persons in Spain.
Those affected by flooding can file their insurance claim through the Consortium website: https://www.consorseguros.es or by calling this freephone number: 900 222 665.
Occident provides support and assistance in relation to the storm
Occident customers, who received advance weather alerts due to the forecast of torrential rain, have access to telephone and WhatsApp support to submit their questions and manage claims arising from the storm:
- Occident freephone number: 900 110 200
In this regard, insured parties are reminded that they can rely on the personalised advice of their mediator, who will assist with all procedures related to the impact of the storm.
Occident has reinforced its network of insurance appraisers to assess the damage caused by the storm in the affected areas. In addition, in areas that are difficult to access, the customer is offered the possibility of obtaining a remote assessment, better known as video appraisal.
