Behavioural health clinics are facing an immense demand challenge. Over 1 billion people worldwide live with mental health conditions, according to the World Health Organisation, and autism and ADHD diagnoses are surging. However, providers are struggling to meet this demand and deliver the life-changing therapy and care that people need because they're struggling with growing administrative complexity and compliance requirements.
As other industries are revolutionised by AI, behavioural health specialists continue to depend on siloed point solutions to carry out administrative tasks. This is holding them back, and piecemeal integration of AI into legacy platforms won't move the needle. Behavioural clinics badly need technology stacks for the AI era. A pair of massively ambitious founders has risen to this task.
No job is too daunting for ambitious operators
David Connors and Faaez Ul Haq met while advising an Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) practice on implementing digital technology into its operations. They felt the difficulties of working with anachronistic tech in healthcare first-hand and spotted an opportunity to build an AI-native, all-in-one platform to meet the industry's administrative and compliance demands - Hipp Health.
Rebuilding the technology stacks of behavioural clinics was an enormous task to take on, but David and Faaez bring the operator acumen to achieve the extraordinary. David previously served as VP of Product Strategy at Workday, while Faaez served as VP of Product Strategy at Pipe and Uber.
Launched in 2024, the Hipp Health platform automates clinical documentation, scheduling, billing and compliance with intuitive clinical software that adapts as care continues to evolve and improve.
An instant impact
Hipp Health is already making a massive difference for the autism care and broader behavioural health community. Practices using the platform report a 90% reduction in claims outstanding, which means clinics are receiving fees they're owed more quickly.
This is an example of the game-changing operational advantages that an AI-native solution can bring for behavioural clinics - from mid-sized to enterprise practices. It is an opportunity that David and Faaez, as operator founders, are better placed to seize than industry incumbents.
That's why we led Hipp Health's $6.2 million seed round this month. You can read more about that in Tech Funding News here.
Commenting on the round, Julius Schwerin, Partner at RTP Global said:
"As behavioural health offices are already struggling to balance patient and admin needs, they are also gearing up for the challenges of working with Medicaid. These include looming new compliance requirements, potential budget cuts, and increased likelihood of audit. With the EHR/administrative software market valued in excess of $2B and growing for behavioural health practices, we feel that Hipp Health is perfectly positioned to become the company that helps practitioners modernise their admin and compliance processes."
The Hipp Health team will use the new funding to accelerate product development, expand its San Francisco-based team and expand platform capabilities in billing and revenue cycle management (RCM) - a critical area where automation can dramatically improve cash flow and reduce burnout for behavioural clinics.
Hipp Health encapsulates what we look for in partners at RTP Global: tenacious founders who are reimagining their industry with the proposition, ambition and expertise to match. We're excited to support David, Faaez and the team as they continue to build a platform that's a lifeline for an industry stretched to its limits.
