Defence Cyber Command Conducts Cybersecurity Awareness Programme for Ministry of Defence and Affiliated Organizations

The Defence Cyber Command conducted a Cybersecurity Awareness Programme for the staff of the Ministry of Defence and all affiliated organizations, including the Tri-Services and the Police, on 20 January 2026 at the Nandimithra Auditorium, Ministry of Defence.

The programme was organized under the direction of the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and the Chief of National Intelligence, in parallel with the Government's "Clean Sri Lanka" Programme, which aims to promote integrity, accountability, and secure digital practices across public institutions.

The awareness programme was conducted by the Director of Defence Cyber Command, Brigadier Dhammika Vidanalage, along with other representatives of the Defence Cyber Command of the Ministry of Defence.

The session comprised both theoretical and practical components, including live demonstrations on emerging cyber threats, cybercrime trends, preventive measures, cybersecurity best practices, and relevant cyber laws and responsibilities of the Information Security Committee (ISC), the Information Security Officer (ISO), and the Assistant Information Security Officer (AISO). Special emphasis was placed on the importance of maintaining a high level of cyber awareness when handling sensitive information related to national security in Sri Lanka.

The Defence Cyber Command will continue to conduct similar awareness programmes across government ministries and departments to further strengthen the cybersecurity posture of the public sector, in support of the national vision of a safe, resilient, and digitally empowered Sri Lanka.
