Dylan Baker Named Idaho’s 21st State Librarian

I am happy to announce that Deputy State Librarian Dylan Baker has been appointed to the role of Idaho state librarian and agency director of the Idaho Commission for Libraries (ICfL). Dylan's first day in the role will be December 22, 2025.

Dylan's library career began 25 years ago when he started at Boise Public as a page. He held several positions at Ada Community before joining the ICfL in 2017 in the newly created role of broadband services library consultant. In 2020, he was promoted to the position of e-services program supervisor and then to deputy state librarian in 2022.

The breadth of Dylan's library experience and his unwavering commitment to the ICfL staff and the Idaho library community will make him a strong leader and champion for libraries in our state.

Dylan said, "I am honored by the confidence the board has placed in me and grateful for Stephanie's leadership and mentoring that helped prepare me for this exciting and challenging position. I look forward to continuing the agency's statewide capacity-building work as we assist libraries throughout Idaho."
