September is National Preparedness Month, and the City of Malibu is working hard to prepare - and to help our residents and businesses be ready - for wildfires, earthquakes, and other disasters. The City will conduct Everbridge Disaster Notification System tests in September, to a different Malibu Evacuation Zone each week.
Everbridge: The City has been using Everbridge for several years to send urgent emergency alerts during the most serious incidents that threaten lives and property, including evacuation orders. No sign-up is required, most Malibu landlines and cell phones are automatically entered into the Everbridge system. However, residents and businesses can create a profile to add additional contact information, street addresses, or secondary phone numbers at: www.MalibuCity.org/DisasterNotifications.
(The City uses website alerts for lower level emergency, traffic, utility and weather alerts. Sign up: www.MalibuCity.org/news )
It's your shared responsibility to be prepared for wildfires, and that means knowing your Evacuation Zone and watching for emergency alerts. Look up your Evacuation Zone: www.MalibuCity.org/Evac and monitor Genasys Protect, the emergency and evacuation information site used by LA County at: https://Protect.Genasys.com/Search .
If you need assistance with Everbridge, or if you do not receive a test message, please contact the Public Safety Department at [email protected] or call 310-456-2489.
