ISLAND PARK-Installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of U.S. Highway 20 and Yale-Kilgore Road is being delayed until later this summer. The signal was originally expected to be operational just after Memorial Day.
Foundations for the signal structure were poured last fall using a manufacture template to ensure poles and bolts fit exactly. Earlier this week it was determined that this fit was incorrect, halting installation work.
Modifications need to be made before installation can continue. It will take approximately one month for components to be fabricated and received, after which work to get the signal in place and operational will resume immediately.
"Infrastructure construction means meeting and overcoming challenges every day," District Engineer Jason Minzghor said. "We're grateful for good partners and crews with the expertise to find and execute solutions."
US-20 traffic through Island Park will flow as usual with no construction ongoing in the coming weeks. ITD will share when work will resume and what impacts to motorists will be at that time.
Traffic impacts on other projects underway statewide can always be found on the Idaho 511 app and at 511.idaho.gov.
