Clarkson University Professor Boris Jukic Receives Distinguished Teaching Award

Clarkson University Professor and Director of Applied Data Science Boris Jukic received the Distinguished Teaching Award during the University's spring commencement awards ceremony on May 9.

The $1,500 prize is awarded in recognition of the importance of superior teaching. Candidates are nominated by Clarkson alumni, and the final selection is made by a faculty committee.

Jukic is a professor of information systems at Clarkson University and serves as director of the Applied Data Science program. His teaching and research focus on database systems modeling, business intelligence, analytics, information systems and data management.

Since joining Clarkson's faculty, Jukic has contributed to the development of programs and curriculum focused on data science and analytics, helping prepare students for careers in technology, business and data-driven industries.

In addition to his role at Clarkson, Jukic has authored and co-authored numerous scholarly publications in the areas of information systems, data warehousing, analytics and e-business. His research has been presented at national and international conferences and published in academic journals focused on information systems and computing.

Jukic earned his doctorate in management information systems from The University of Texas at Austin. He also holds an MBA in computer science from Grand Valley State University, Allendale, Michigan, and a bachelor's degree in electrical and software engineering from the University of Zagreb in Croatia.

Last but not least, he has been a volunteer Head Coach of the Clarkson University Crew team for 20 years.
