Construction Activity Prompts Rolling Roadblocks on I-75, Emory Road in Knox County

Motorists traveling on I-75 and Emory Road (State Route 131) in Knox County should be aware of upcoming road construction activities that will have a temporary impact on traffic.

Blasting activities originally scheduled for February 26, have been postponed due to anticipated inclement weather.

At approximately 1 p.m. on Friday, February 27, rolling roadblocks will be in place on I-75 South, beginning at Exit 117 (Raccoon Valley Road), and also on I-75 North, beginning at Exit 108 (Merchants Drive), as crews perform blasting activities near the Exit 112 (Emory Road/Powell) ramp. In addition, traffic on Emory Road (State Route 131) will be held westbound near Starbucks, while eastbound traffic will be halted at Blueberry Road.

These rolling roadblocks and closures will allow crews to safely clear any debris that may land on the roadway. Duration of rolling roadblocks is approximately 15-20 minutes. Emory Road closures will last approximately 5 minutes.

This schedule is contingent on favorable weather conditions. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use extreme caution in this area as workers will be present.
