Hudson Resident Charged with Wrongful Voting

Concord, NH - Attorney General John M. Formella announces that Grace Gato, of Hudson, New Hampshire has been arrested and charged with one class A misdemeanor count of wrongful voting, contrary to RSA 659:34, I(c) and RSA 659:34, II.

RSA 659:34, I(c) prohibits a person from applying for a ballot in a name other than their own. The complaint alleges that Ms. Gato submitted an absentee ballot application for the November 5, 2024 State General Election in Hudson using the name of her recently deceased mother. Ms. Gato separately applied for and cast an absentee ballot in her own name during that election.

The charges and allegations against Ms. Gato are merely accusations. Ms. Gato is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

This case is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant Attorney General Brendan O'Donnell of the Election Law Unit. The investigation into this matter was conducted by Election Law Unit Investigator Cristina Ostrowski.
