Ball State University Presents B.J. Tindal’s ‘Goodnight, Tyler,’ Nov. 15-16 & 18-22

Ball State University's Department of Theatre and Dance will present Goodnight, Tyler by playwright B.J. Tindal, with original dramaturgy by Mansi Sahay Seth and direction by Lisa Gaye Dixon. Performances are scheduled for Nov. 15-16 and Nov. 18-22 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on Nov. 22 at 2:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall (AR 217) of the Fine Arts Building.

Goodnight, Tyler is a poignant and unexpectedly humorous ghost story about memory, grief, and the fight for control over a legacy, and invites audiences to reflect on how we remember, represent, and come to terms with the lives of those impacted by injustice. It's both deeply emotional and sharply funny-an opportunity for Ball State students to perform a bold, contemporary script that pushes the boundaries of empathy and social awareness.

"Goodnight, Tyler is a time-hopping, reality-bending, stage play that tackles serious issues of race, sexuality, and police brutality," said Ms. Gaye Dixon, professor emerita of theatre, professor of dance, member of the acting faculty, resident director, and producer for University of Illinois Theatre.

"It may also be one of the funniest plays you will see this year," she continued. "The show takes many of the stereotypes and isms you can think of, turns them upside-down and inside-out, all while making you simultaneously laugh, cry, and find yourself rooting for-well, everyone."
