Man Sentenced for Live-Streaming with a Fully Automatic Weapon

October 29, 2025, Peoria, IL - Today, the court sentenced D'Berry M. Coleman, 19, to six and a half years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after he was seen live-streaming with a fully automatic weapon last year in South Peoria.

On April 9, 2024, police observed Coleman, who was 17 at the time, streaming a live video on Instagram while displaying a firearm equipped with a "switch" that converts it into a fully automatic weapon. The firearm also had an extended magazine. When officers approached Coleman, he ran into a residence in the 2100 block of W. Starr, where he was taken into custody. The firearm was recovered.

Coleman was initially charged as a juvenile in April 2024. A judge later granted his transfer to adult felony court, and in August 2025, he pleaded guilty to Unlawful Use of Weapons. He has remained in custody since his arrest.
