Ascension St. Vincent Recognizes Nurses Across Indiana During National Nurses Week

Observed annually during the first full week of May, National Nurses Week celebrates the vital role nurses play in supporting patients, families, and communities. Across Indiana, Ascension St. Vincent nurses serve in a wide range of specialties and settings, delivering care that combines clinical expertise with compassion at every stage of life.

One labor and delivery story from Ascension St. Vincent Women and Infants highlights the lasting connections formed through nursing. When new graduate nurse Claire joined the team, she shared that she had been born at Ascension St. Vincent, only to learn that her preceptor, Cindy, had been her nurse at birth. In Evansville, Ann Andersen was recognized with the Nursing Legacy Award. Ann's story is a testament to the evolution of modern medicine and the timeless nature of compassion. After graduating in 1959, Ann worked through every major unit of the hospital, including the ICU, Surgery, and the Emergency Department.
