CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Governor Patrick Morrisey today announced nearly $2.4 million in the first implementation awards under West Virginia's Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP), funding worksite clinics and employer-based healthcare services designed to improve health outcomes and help more West Virginians stay healthy and in the workforce.

"We are putting these historic resources to work to improve the health of West Virginians and strengthen our workforce," said Governor Morrisey. "By bringing healthcare closer to where people work, we can identify health problems earlier, better manage chronic conditions, and help more West Virginians stay healthy and on the job. These first awards are another important step toward transforming healthcare delivery across our state."

The awards are being made through the Health to Prosperity (HTP) initiative and will expand worksite clinics and employer-based healthcare services across West Virginia. The investments will make it easier for employees to access care, manage chronic conditions, and receive preventive services without unnecessary barriers that can keep them from getting the care they need.

The following organizations were selected to receive the first Health to Prosperity awards following a review of their ability to implement the programs and deliver results for West Virginians:

• Spotted Owl Healthcare Organization: $1,174,000
• CAMC/Vandalia Health: $612,000
• Cabell Huntington Foundation: $612,000

The funding will help expand worksite clinics and employer-based healthcare services that make it easier for West Virginians to access care where they work. Employees will have greater access to preventive care, health screenings, chronic disease management, occupational health services, care coordination, and referrals to additional care when needed. By helping people identify health risks earlier and better manage chronic conditions, these services can improve health outcomes, reduce disruptions caused by illness, and help more West Virginians stay healthy and active in the workforce.

"Expanding access to care through worksite clinics can help people address health concerns earlier, better manage chronic conditions, and stay connected to work and their communities. That's good for workers, families, employers, and the State as a whole."

Today's announcement represents the first phase of implementation and the first funding awards announced under the program. Future awards will be announced across WV RHTP's seven initiatives as West Virginia continues building a stronger, healthier future for communities across the state.
