Trilateral Roundtable on Artificial Intelligence

On 12 March, the Government organised a trilateral meeting bringing together representatives of employees, the civil service and businesses to address issues related to artificial intelligence, as well as how its development can be guided in the service of societal, social and economic progress, with a view to improving the quality of life of our citizens.

The Government was represented by the Prime Minister, Luc Frieden; the Minister of Labour, Marc Spautz; the Minister of Education, Children and Youth, Claude Meisch; the Minister of the Economy, SME, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles; the Minister of Finance, Gilles Roth; the Minister of Health and Social Security, Martine Deprez; the Minister for Digitalisation and Minister of Research and Higher Education, Stéphanie Obertin; and the Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Media and Connectivity, Elisabeth Margue. Their participation reflects the Government's determination to pursue a cross-cutting and inclusive approach in order to harness the opportunities offered by this innovative technology.

Luxembourg aims to position itself as a frontrunner in the adoption and development of artificial intelligence, relying on broad participation, awareness-raising at all levels and responsible governance. This ambition is based on the conviction that AI, when understood, mastered and used in the interest of the common good, can become a powerful driver of innovation, sustainable development and inclusive growth.

At the end of the meeting, participants agreed on the need to launch a comprehensive study assessing the impact of artificial intelligence on productivity, the labour market, training, education and other key areas. They also stressed that such an analysis requires, among other things, a significant improvement in data collection, ideally in real time, in order to enable faster and better-adapted responses to ongoing developments.
