Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will visit Belém, Brazil, on 10-11 November. Minister Tavio will attend events held in connection with the Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the UN Convention on Climate Change and meet ministers and business representatives from different countries.
The 30th United Nations Conference of the Parties will bring together as many as 50,000 participants from around the world to negotiate climate action and to discuss the impacts of climate change and the economic opportunities offered by the clean transition.
"We will present tangible solutions at the Belém conference, along with deep technological and research expertise and a message that Finnish cutting-edge technology can drive economic growth and competitiveness," Minister Tavio says.
This is the second time that Finland has its own pavilion at the UN Climate Change Conference. The pavilion will be implemented in collaboration between Finnish businesses, higher education institutions, research institutes, cities and civil society. They include the organisations that launched the project - Climate Leadership Coalition, Confederation of Finnish Industries, Finland Chamber of Commerce, Technology Industries of Finland - and the pavilion's main partners Nokia and Outokumpu.
Minister Tavio will open the Finland Pavilion on 11 November and attend events discussing the connection between climate action and artificial intelligence, digitalisation and the circular economy.
"The Finland Pavilion in Belém is a concrete indication that we want to create solutions through joint efforts. The Finnish Government strongly supports the clean transition based on innovation, technologies and sustainable investments," Minister Tavio says.
Minister Tavio will also have discussions with ministers and business representatives from different countries. COP30 will provide a key forum for Finland for dialogue with international partners and strengthen Finland's position as a resourceful climate actor.
