The New Bridge on I-16/SR 404 (Eastbound and Westbound) over Ocmulgee River Overflow; Traffic Shift Scheduled

WHAT: Weather permitting, on Saturday, January 5, 2026, Contractors will shift eastbound traffic on I-16 into its final alignment. This work will occur between Mile Markers 3 and 5 in East Macon. Eastbound traffic will be placed onto the newly constructed bridge over the Ocmulgee River Overflow.

The project consists of 0.652 mile of construction of a bridge and approaches on I-16/SR 404 (eastbound and westbound) over the Ocmulgee River Overflow and is currently scheduled for completion early 2026.

WHEN: Starting Saturday, January 5, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.

WHERE: I-16/SR 404 eastbound between Mile Markers 3 and 5 in East Macon, GA

Advisory: Dates may change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones.
