Equipping Medical Outreach in Bangladesh, Venezuela Earthquake Recovery, and More

Over the past week, Direct Relief has delivered 612 shipments of requested medical aid to 47 U.S. states and territories and 23 countries worldwide. The shipments contained 9.6 million defined daily doses of medication.

Medications and supplies shipped this week included diabetes treatments, N95 respirators, backup power equipment, prenatal vitamins, antihistamines, and more.

Six-Ton Shipment En Route to Venezuela Earthquake Response Partner

In response to recent earthquakes in Venezuela, Direct Relief has continued sending medical aid, including a six-ton shipment to Fundación Wayuu Taya to support relief efforts on the ground. The shipment, currently in transit, includes medicines, medical supplies, hygiene products for displaced people, field medic packs, personal protective equipment, medical-grade tents, and more.

Direct Relief's support for the Venezuela earthquake response has included more than 24 tons of medical aid and supplies as well as $300,000 in grants to four organizations.

Pre-Positioned Supplies Support Flood Response in Bangladesh

Prolonged heavy rains since the start of July have caused flooding and landslides across seven districts in Bangladesh, affecting an estimated 436,000 people, including over 17,000 displaced to 1,700 temporary shelters, and 59 deaths as of July 22.

Through strategically pre-positioned supplies - including Direct Relief field medic packs - as part of ongoing emergency preparedness support in Bangladesh, Direct Relief partner the HOPE Foundation for Women and Children of Bangladesh was able to quickly mobilize and equip local emergency teams to support relief efforts in heavily flood-affected areas.

"We're so thankful to Direct Relief for their emergency medical bags, which we had in store from the previous shipment," said a HOPE Foundation representative. "During the recent flood and mudslide in the refugee camps, we were able to attend the injured and sick refugees. We have been able to help them with emergency medical care during times of need."

By quickly scaling up health support in the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar, HOPE Foundation response teams helped ensure immediate and safe access to critical health services for those most vulnerable and facing the greatest risks from flood impacts.

In coordination with HOPE Foundation for Women and Children and other humanitarian partners, Direct Relief continues to closely monitor flood conditions in Bangladesh and support continued monsoon and cyclone season readiness, including the strategic positioning of additional emergency medical packs, hygiene kits, and critical supplies to enable rapid, timely response to potential new emergency needs in the coming months.

Since 2025, Direct Relief has provided nearly $27 million in healthcare support to Bangladesh, including over $2 million toward strengthening emergency preparedness and response.

Mobile Health Teams Respond to Flooding in South Texas

Following flooding in Maverick, Dimmit, and Zavala counties, South Texas Family Planning & Health Corporation (STFPHC) has been running mobile medical missions to provide care and relief supplies to affected communities. The organization, based in Corpus Christi, expects to continue these mobile trips for several weeks as recovery efforts continue.

To support this response, Direct Relief is providing STFPHC with field medic packs, hygiene products, electrolytes, and water purification supplies, along with over-the-counter and prescription medicines. STFPHC will return to Corpus Christi for a resupply, at which point the shipments will be used to equip its next round of mobile missions.
