Streets Near State Capitol to Close November 16 for Veterans Parade

Portions of several streets near the State Capitol will temporarily close Sunday, November 16, for the Lincoln Veterans Parade. The seventh annual parade begins at 2 p.m. with opening ceremony on the north steps of the State Capitol and will follow "K" Street from South 21st to South 14th streets. More information is available at lincolnveteransparade.org.

The parade will air live on LNKTV, the City government access channel. LNKTV is available on Allo channel 2 and Spectrum channel 1300. The parade will also be streamed at LNKTV.lincoln.ne.gov and YouTube.com/LNKTVcity. In addition, LNKTV apps are available on Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV.

The following streets will be closed November 16 from noon to 5:30 p.m., with local access only:

  • South 14th Street, "H" to "K" streets
  • South 16th Street, "H" to "L" streets
  • South 17th Street, "J" to "L" streets
  • South 18th Street from "J" to "L" streets
  • South 19th Street from "J" to "K" streets
  • South 20th Street from "J" to "L" streets
  • South 21st Street, "J" to "L" streets
  • Goodhue Boulevard from "H" to "G" streets
  • "H" Street from South 14th to 16th streets
  • "K" Street, South 13th to 21st streets
  • South Antelope Valley Parkway from "K" to "L" streets

Spectators are advised to arrive early and to park at one of the nearby parking garages. Free parking will be available at the Nelnet parking lot at South 21st and "K" streets, and in the City parking lot bounded by "K" Street, Rosa Parks Way, South Ninth and 10th streets.

This year's parade theme is "250 Years of Defending Freedom" and celebrates the 250th birthday of the US Army, Navy, and Marine Corps. Parade entries include veteran organizations, Scouting America, Girl Scouts, 4-H Club, and the Junior ROTC. Vehicle participants include the Cornhusker Model A Club, Capitol Ford and Mustang Club, Rebel Auto Club, RoughRiders, the American Legion Riders, and privately owned military vehicles. Also performing are Northwest, Northeast, and Southeast High School Marching Bands.
