On June 12, 2026, the second working meeting of the European project Support4Resilience (S4R) took place at the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, bringing together the project representatives from Sant'Anna - Nicola Belle, Paola Cantarelli, Luca Scopis, and Alessandro Gazzetti - and the leaders of Fondazione Casa Cardinale Maffi.

The S4R digital toolbox consists of three complementary tools designed to support reflection, learning, and workflow redesign, promoting sustainable improvement across organizations:

  • A mapping tool, which provides a clear overview of current working conditions, challenges, and strengths within the unit.
  • A reflection/learning tool, which facilitates structured reflection and shared learning processes among team members.
  • A reorganization tool, which helps translate insights into concrete changes by guiding the redesign of workflows and everyday practices.

The meeting opened with a discussion of the experiences gained by leaders during the implementation phase launched after the first workshop. Participants shared how they had used the mapping tool with colleagues and family members, reflecting on the process and discussing the results collected. Reviewing and analyzing the assessment findings proved particularly valuable, generating meaningful insights into organizational dynamics and staff well-being.
The session then focused on the "Improve" component of the S4R toolbox. Tool 2 - Improve consists of two parts: Learn, a training component designed for leaders, and Reflect, a reflection component carried out in dialogue with staff members. The aim of the tool is to strengthen quality and support continuous improvement. While the learning component builds knowledge and awareness, the reflection component helps translate these insights into everyday team practices.

The tool is structured around three key modules:

1. Supporting the worker
• Fostering professional growth and development.
• Navigating work and life demands.

2. Improving working conditions
• Balancing organizational control and employee autonomy.
• Establishing shared standards of practice.

3. Improving workplace culture
• Building positive relationships.
• Facilitating collaboration and communication.

The meeting took place in an open, collaborative, and highly participatory atmosphere. Discussions highlighted how the toolbox's participatory approach - which values staff voices and encourages leaders to engage with emerging evidence - can serve as a powerful mechanism for organizational listening, employee well-being, and continuous quality improvement.
