Eastern University Welcomes Josh Gad to Film On Campus

This summer, Eastern University welcomed Josh Gad to campus to film the inaugural episode of VIZIO's Join the Club, an entertainment series that highlights college campus communities and student life. The episode aired on August 3, 2026.
Josh Gad, who also voices Olaf in Disney's Frozen franchise, joins four different college clubs, ranging from niche groups like cheese and fishing clubs to intramural flag football. In humorous, "fish out of water" situations, he explores campus life and what it means to find where you belong.
At Eastern, he joined the women's flag football team for practice, where he took part in drills, met student-athletes, and experienced the team's competitive spirit firsthand.
"Having Josh Gad come into our program and experience flag football alongside our athletes was such a special moment. Watching him try out for our team, compete, and most importantly bring so much joy and energy to our athletes was something we'll never forget."

Gad's visit brought a national entertainment production to Eastern's campus and gave students the chance to be part of the inaugural episode of a new series celebrating the people and communities that make college life unique.
Ruller added: "Our athletes are amazing people, incredible competitors, and truly deserving of having their stories and personalities seen. This experience allowed people to see our team for what it really is: a group that competes hard, supports one another, and brings so much joy to the game."
