Students during Welcome WEek 2024.
New year, new planner, new opportunities. Drexel University stays busy with plenty of events to help students thrive socially, academically and in their budding careers. These events are great for all Dragons, new and returning, to get to know the community and stay on top of college deadlines.
If you're looking for more events to fill your calendar, DragonLink (where you can find on-campus and virtual student organization and University events), the University calendar and DrexelNOW will have you covered.
Welcome Week, Sept. 13-21: The first couple weeks of the quarter are jam-packed with events to get students new and returning readjusted to campus life. Welcome Week kicks off with move-in and wraps up just before classes start. There are hundreds of events to help new students (including transfer students) get to know faculty, friends and Philadelphia. Register on DrexelOne to add events to your calendar.
CAB Presents: Fall Ball, 7-10 p.m. on Sept. 17, Great Court of Main Building: Drexel's Campus Activities Board aims to start the year off with the best vibes. Hit the dance floor, chat with new friends, eat free ice cream and snacks and stop by the photo booth.
Night on the Row, 8-11 p.m. on Sept. 18, 34th Street, Race Street, Drexel Lawn and Powelton Avenue: This is your chance to get acquainted with Drexel's fraternities and sororities to see if Greek life is right for you. During this Welcome Week event, you'll get a chance to meet new people and learn more about joining a sorority or fraternity before recruitment starts.
Drexel's Involvement Fair in 2022.
Involvement Fair, 4-6 p.m. on Sept. 30, Race Lawn: This event, which happens again in the spring, features friendly faces from dozens of Drexel's more than 200 student organizations. All students are encouraged to attend and find their new niche - whether you want to get outdoors on the weekend, try new coffee places, play chess, connect with students in your major or many other things, there's something for you.
DragonFly, 6-9:30 p.m. on Oct. 4, Daskalakis Athletic Center (DAC): This concert is one of the biggest Drexel events of the year, featuring big-name headliners, local acts and other musicians as well. Tickets are free for undergrads, $15 for grad students and $25 for guests. Yung Gravy will headline, and MKTO, Joontoon and valentinesday will also play.
Fall Career Fair: Be sure to attend if you're searching for a co-op or post-graduation job. Registration opens Sept. 22 and there are three dates: Oct. 8 is a virtual fair for all majors, Oct. 15 is an in-person fair for STEM majors and Oct. 16 is an in-person fair for all majors. Once you register, you'll be able to see a list of participating employers on Handshake. Don't forget to update your résumé and consider attending a preparation workshop!
Academic Term Reminders: While you're adding events to your calendar, don't forget to add a few key dates, as well. Be prepared for midterms and finals, which will begin around Week 5 (Oct. 20) and on Dec. 8, respectively. As you look beyond the fall quarter, know that Oct. 20 is the deadline to apply for your degree if you're graduating at the end of the quarter, and that Oct. 27 is when sign-ups for next quarter's classes begin for some students (check your time ticket).
