Court Street closure scheduled Oct. 2-5 for water main work

Weather permitting, Court Street will be closed between First and Third avenues beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, through 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, 2026.

The closure is necessary to complete water main work planned for the 2026 construction season.

The existing closure of Court Street between Muscatine and Third avenues will remain in place during this work.

Access to residences will be maintained. Drivers should use caution in the area, allow extra travel time, and follow posted detour signs.

Transit impacts

Beginning with the 8:40 a.m. trip on Friday, Oct. 2, the 2-Court Street bus will detour inbound and outbound on Court Street.

The outbound 2-Court Street bus will detour Muscatine Avenue to Second Avenue to Friendship Street to Upland Avenue to Court Street. Stops that will not be serviced on the outbound trip are:

• The temporary stop on Second Avenue at Court Street
• Court Street at First Avenue (stop 7310)
• Court Street at Upland Avenue (stop 7312)

A temporary outbound stop has been added on Upland Avenue at Court Street on the Southeast corner of the intersection.

The inbound 2-Court Street bus will detour Court Street to Upland Avenue to Friendship Street to Second Avenue to Muscatine Avenue. Stops that will not be serviced on the inbound trip are:

• Court Street at First Avenue (stop 7311)
• Temporary stop on Court Street at Second Avenue

A temporary inbound stop has been added on Court Street at Upland Avenue.

This detour will last through Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, and normal service is expected to resume Monday, Oct. 5, 2026.
