AAR welcomed Jackie Black (fifth from left), Federal Aviation Administration Division Manager for Aircraft Maintenance, to its Engineering Services and Airframe MRO facilities in Greensboro, North Carolina, on August 4, 2026.
Wood Dale, Illinois - AAR CORP., the leading parts, repair, and software platform in the aviation aftermarket, hosted Jackie Black, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Division Manager for Aircraft Maintenance, for visits to the Company's Engineering Services and Airframe Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) operations in Greensboro, North Carolina, last week.
Mr. Black's visit began with a tour of AAR's Engineering Services facility in Greensboro. The operation joined AAR's Engineering Services network following the acquisition of Aircraft Reconfig Technologies (ART) earlier this year. The ART acquisition expanded AAR's engineering capabilities and included an Organization Designation Authorization (ODA), which authorizes qualified organizations to perform certain certification activities on behalf of the FAA and further strengthens AAR's ability to support customers with specialized engineering and regulatory expertise.
The visit provided an opportunity for AAR's Engineering Services team to showcase its capabilities and discuss how the acquisition enhances AAR's engineering expertise, certification capabilities, and customer support offerings.
Mr. Black then visited AAR's Airframe MRO facility in Greensboro, where he led a site-wide safety stand down. A common practice across the aviation industry, safety stand downs provide dedicated time for team members to step away from daily operations, discuss safety priorities, share best practices, and reinforce the culture that helps keep team members and the flying public safe. The session focused on the FAA's priorities and the shared commitment between industry and regulators to maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety. He then participated in a roundtable discussion with AAR inspectors, auditors, and operational leaders. Topics included regulatory oversight, certification processes, and the coordination enabled through AAR's Certificate Management Unit (CMU), which oversees multiple FAA-certificated locations. As one of two independent MROs operating under a CMU structure, AAR shared insights on maintaining consistency, compliance, and safety across its network while reinforcing the strong working relationship between the Company and the FAA.
"We appreciated the opportunity for our team members to connect directly with FAA leadership and discuss the shared responsibility we all have in advancing aviation safety," said Art Smith, AAR's Vice President and Chief Quality Officer. "These conversations strengthen collaboration, encourage the exchange of ideas, and reinforce the culture of safety, quality, and compliance that guides our work every day."
