Band Submissions Now Open for Rock the Roost 2027 Music Festival at Fairmont State University

Band submissions are now officially open for Rock the Roost 2027, a full-day Appalachian music festival and battle of the bands set for June 12, 2027, on the campus of Fairmont State University. Bands from across West Virginia are invited to apply between July 1, 2026, and October 30, 2026 for a chance to perform and compete in this statewide showcase of original music.

Rock the Roost 2027 will bring together musicians, fans, vendors, and the community for a day dedicated to celebrating the sounds, stories, and creative talent of West Virginia. The festival will feature live performances spanning a wide range of genres, highlighting the diversity of music being created across the Mountain State.

Fairmont State University will select eight original West Virginian bands from submitted applications to compete in the event's battle of the bands competition. Selected performers will take the stage during the festival and compete for cash prizes, including an Audience Choice Award.

Bands interested in applying must meet the following eligibility requirements:

• Must be based in West Virginia and primarily operate in-state
• Must perform original music only; no cover bands or cover songs are permitted
• Must submit a video of one original song performance as part of the application
• Must be available to perform on June 12, 2027

Rock the Roost reflects Fairmont State University's commitment to serving as a cultural and community hub for North Central West Virginia and beyond.
