Trump Administration Provides $4M Grant to Eastern Oklahoma Water District

U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Oklahoma State Director Zachary Swartz announced today that the Trump Administration provided a $4 million USDA Rural Development grant to Latimer County Rural Water District No. 4.

The Administration's investment will improve the water treatment plant and distribution system to meet the needs of the community. Additionally, upgrades will make the system compliant with Oklahoma quality regulations and provide the community with clean drinking water.

"Thanks to President Trump's leadership USDA has been committed to securing water resources for rural America, which is the lifeblood for our farm and ranch communities like Latimer No. 4 that depend on it for survival," said Swartz. "USDA Rural Development has already committed more than $160 million during this administration alone to strengthen our rural Oklahoma water supply and preserve our rural way of life with this critical resource."

The funding is provided through USDA Rural Development's Water and Environmental Programs. Through USDA's Rural Utilities Service, the Water and Environmental Programs help rural communities obtain the technical assistance and financing necessary to develop drinking water and waste disposal systems. Safe drinking water and sanitary waste disposal systems are vital not only to public health, but also to the economic vitality of rural America. Rural Development is a leader in helping rural America improve the quality of life and increase the economic opportunities for rural people.
