WASHINGTON, D.C. - Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is filming a new reality TV show with his family to celebrate America's 250th anniversary while Americans are struggling to keep up with high gas prices and surging inflation.
The costs of the so-called 'Great American Road Trip' the Duffy family has been filming for the past seven months are being paid for by a nonprofit that the Trump administration created sponsored by companies like Shell and Toyota .
In response to Duffy's reality TV show hypocrisy, Sierra Club's Clean Transportation for All Director Katherine García released the following statement:
"As Americans struggle with soaring gas prices, Sean Duffy is busy touring the country to film a reality show bankrolled by polluting industries.
"Having Toyota and Shell sponsor Duffy's 'Great American Road Trip' is a blatant display of government negligence. Trump's DOT has already rolled back commonsense transportation policies that improve the fuel efficiency of vehicles; turning DOT into a PR platform for automakers like Toyota crosses a serious ethical line.
"This self-serving administration continues to show they are more interested in advancing their personal brand than helping Americans. They're laughing in our faces while using corporate and taxpayer dollars to disguise self-interest as patriotism."
