Man Convicted in Felony Drug Case Last Month Arrested Again on New Drug & Gun Counts

A Nashville man convicted just last month of selling fentanyl-laced cocaine for which he received a 10-year probated community corrections sentence is now back in jail following his arrest Tuesday night at an airport-area hotel on gun and drug charges.

Police were called to the hotel, which was hosting a large conference, after an employee cleaning one of the rooms came upon an AR-style gun in plain view on a shelf. The registered guest for the room was Dametrius D. Williams, 28, who, due to his status as a convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing firearms.

While officers at the hotel awaited the approval of a search warrant for the hotel room, Williams arrived. While being detained, he dropped a gray cylinder that contained several dozen grams of white powder and multiple small plastic baggies. Williams acknowledged that the gun in the room was his, and that selling drugs was the only way he knew to make money. The powder recovered totaled 5.5 ounces and tested positive for a cocaine/fentanyl mix.

Williams is charged with two counts of felony drug possession, unlawful gun possession by a previously convicted drug felon and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $90,000.
