Rep. Mary Ann Santos Celebrates Henry County Veterans Treatment Court Graduates

ATLANTA - State Representative Mary Ann Santos (D-McDonough) recently celebrated the graduation of three veterans-two U.S. Army veterans and one U.S. Marine-during the ninth commencement ceremony of the Henry County Veterans Treatment Court (VTC).

"I applaud Henry County's newest graduates and the life-changing work of our Veterans Treatment Court," said Rep. Santos. "These courts offer treatment over incarceration and give our veterans the opportunity to heal, receive meaningful support and rebuild their lives. The courage and resilience of these graduates is a testament to their determination to reenter society and the workforce. Our veterans deserve pathways to recovery after sacrificing so much in service to our country. We owe it to them to make treatment and rehabilitation accessible. I want to thank the Henry County judges, Veterans Support Group, American Legion Post 516, mentors and all community partners, members and families who work together to help our veterans get back on their feet and accomplish their mission of rehabilitation. We are proud of these graduates and grateful for their hard work."

The Henry County Veterans Treatment Court was one of the accountability courts in the state of Georgia to receive the 2025-2027 model VTC Courts Award from Georgia's Accountability Court Model Court Program, which is supported by the Council of Accountability Court Judges.

The ceremony also included a tribute to CSM James 'Jim' Joyce, a retired U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major who passed away in August 2025. During the ceremony, he was remembered for his compassion and dedication to fellow veterans.

ATLANTA - La Representante Estatal Mary Ann Santos (D-McDonough) celebró recientemente la graduación de tres veteranos -dos veteranos del Ejército de los EE. UU. y un veterano de la Marina- durante la novena ceremonia de graduación del Tribunal de Tratamiento para Veteranos del Condado de Henry (VTC, por sus siglas en inglés).

"Felicito a los nuevos graduados del Condado de Henry y el trabajo transformador de nuestro Tribunal de Tratamiento para Veteranos," dijo la Rep. Santos. "Estos tribunales ofrecen tratamiento en lugar de encarcelamiento y brindan a nuestros veteranos la oportunidad de sanar, recibir apoyo significativo y reconstruir sus vidas. El Tribunal de Tratamiento para Veteranos del Condado de Henry fue uno de los tribunales de responsabilidad del estado de Georgia que recibió el premio 2025-2027 Model VTC Courts Award del Programa de Tribunales Modelo, apoyado por el Consejo de Jueces de Tribunales de Responsabilidad.

Representative Mary Ann Santos represents the citizens of District 117, which includes a portion of Henry County. She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2024 and currently serves on the Code Revision, Judiciary, Juvenile and State Properties committees.
