STAR - All lanes at the State Highway 16 and State Highway 44 intersection have reopened following an overnight traffic shift. Thunderstorms in the area left the roadway too wet for striping to adhere to the pavement, delaying the reopening originally planned for 5 a.m. Crews completed the necessary work this morning and reopened all lanes to traffic.
With the traffic shift complete, motorists can expect:
The SH-16 and SH-44 Interchange will provide access from SH-44 to SH-16, while allowing SH-16 to flow freely over SH-44. This interchange is part of the long-term vision for SH-16 and will be finished next year. When complete, SH-16 will be a limited-access freeway between I-84 and SH-44. Motorists will use interchanges to enter or exit the highway at I-84, Franklin Road, Ustick Road, US-20/26 and SH-44.
