LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass today announced coordinated actions are underway to prepare Los Angeles to host the World Series this week. Mayor Bass is working to welcome visitors from near and far to highlight the many attractions, culture, food and neighborhoods that make L.A. an iconic international destination. These announcements come as Mayor Bass continues urgent preparations to host major sporting events including the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the 2027 Super Bowl and 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

"As we welcome visitors from across the country, Canada and around the world to watch the World Series, we're working to make sure that we keep Angelenos safe, that traffic is minimized, and that visitors and Angelenos alike enjoy this incredible City," said Mayor Bass."L.A. is prepared and ready to win and we urge everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly."

Under the direction of Mayor Bass, City Departments have taken the following actions:

Minimizing Traffic and Keeping Streets Safe:

  • Deploying Traffic Officers to Manage Car Flow and Improve Traffic Safety - the L.A. Department of Transportation (LADOT) will deploy more than 40 white glove traffic officers to improve traffic flow at intersections near Dodger Stadium. Supervisors will also be on scene to request additional resources as necessary. Spectators are encouraged to allow extra time for travel.

  • Planning for Efficient and Safe Access to Dodger Stadium - LADOT Special Traffic Operations (STO) has prepared traffic management plans and will deploy 22 traffic engineers during the games to establish specialized routes including Dodger Stadium Express Lane and travel lane adjustments for efficient ingress and egress from major venues.

  • Managing Traffic in Real-Time - The Automated Transportation Systems and Coordination (ATSAC) Center will be open and monitoring congestion at key intersections throughout Los Angeles to adjust signal timing in response to changing traffic conditions.

  • Encouraging Alternative Modes of Transportation - The Dodger Stadium Express will start 2.5 hours ahead of the opening pitch for each home game. Dodger Stadium Express buses from Union Station run on demand, at least every 7 minutes. From Harbor Gateway, the Dodger Stadium Express will run every 20-30 minutes, depending on demand.

    • Parking at Union Station is expected to be full very early, guests are encouraged to take Metro into Downtown before taking the Dodger Stadium Express. To learn more about parking at Metro stations closer to home, people can visit:https://www.metro.net/riding/parking/

    • Everyone who rides Metro must have their own TAP card. Metro riders are encouraged to load the round-trip fare ahead of time. TAP cards can be purchased at stations or people can download digital TAP cards on their phones and pre-load fares while still at home. https://www.metro.net/riding/fares/how-to-pay/.

Keeping Angelenos Safe:

  • Activating the City's Emergency Operations Center - The Mayor's Office of Public Safety is working with the Los Angeles City Emergency Management Department to activate L.A.'s Emergency Operations Center to support the coordination of city services for successful operations during the sporting and entertainment events. The City also continues to monitor weather and closely coordinate with the National Weather Service and City departments. Cooling Centers at libraries and recreation centers are also available.

    • The City of Los Angeles has hundreds of locations open for relief from the heat, including Recreation and Parks facilities and local library branches. For location and hours of operation, visit laparks.org/reccenterand lapl.org/branches. Angelenos can also call 3-1-1 from within L.A. City to learn more. • Increasing LAPD Officer Visibility - The LAPD is on heightened alert and is closely monitoring the World Series games as well as other major L.A. events to keep Angelenos and visitors safe. LAPD will strategically deploy officers and ensure their visibility to the public at locations of events but also along pedestrian corridors to and from venues.

Through the program, businesses will receive one-on-one consultation from the City's Business Source Centers, training and assistance with certification, proposal development, registration to procurement portals and so much more to equip small businesses for successful bidding.
