City of Hoboken appoints Diana Jeffrey as Corporation Counsel

Mayor Emily B. Jabbour today announced the appointment of Diana Jeffrey as Corporation Counsel for the City of Hoboken, bringing more than two decades of experience in municipal law, public policy, affordable housing, government accountability, and executive leadership to the City's Law Division.

Jeffrey most recently served as Executive Director of the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency, where she led the agency for eight years after previously serving as its General Counsel. During her tenure, she oversaw the legal and operational management of the agency and supervised outside counsel and professional consultants, as well as provided legal guidance on affordable housing, redevelopment, public contracting, employment matters, and government transparency. Earlier in her career, she served as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Jersey City, where she negotiated and enforced redevelopment agreements, drafted municipal ordinances, represented the City in complex land use and transactional litigation, and advised on affordable housing matters.

The transition also reestablishes a structure in which the City's chief legal officer is in-house full-time. The City also thanks Arlene Quinones-Perez and Hannah Valente of DeCotiis, FitzPatrick, Cole & Giblin LLP for their service as Hoboken's Corporation Counsel and Assistant Corporation Counsel under the City's outside legal services agreement.

Jeffrey officially assumed the role of Corporation Counsel on Aug. 17.
