Rediscovering Aloha Stadium’s Memories Through Digital Archives

Posted on: October 5, 2026 | Category: Community

For decades, Aloha Stadium has been a gathering place for families, athletes, students, and fans across Hawaiʻi. Since 1991, the Stadium Stars program has preserved memories of sporting events and graduations through video recordings. Today, these treasured moments are being brought back to life through a partnership with the Hawai'i State Archives, which is digitizing the stadium's extensive collection for public access.

The first online collection features recordings from 1991-2000, including high school football, baseball, and soccer, allowing viewers to revisit memorable moments from Aloha Stadium's past. With thousands of additional hours of footage still awaiting digitization and indexing, the collection will continue to grow. The project also offers an opportunity for volunteers to help preserve an important part of Hawaiʻi's sporting and community history.
