The Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanassis Davakis toured yesterday, Good Wednesday 8 April 2026, in Units and Surveillance Outposts of the area of responsibility of the Supreme Military Command of the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean, so as to exchange wishes with the personnel and the conscripts, in view of the Easter holidays.
The Deputy Minister, accompanied by the Commanding General of the Supreme Military Command of the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean Dimitrios Vakentis, visited the "CHALKI" Surveillance Outpost, the Tilos Island Defence Command, the Nisyros Island Defence Command, the Holy Monastery of Panagia Spiliani in Nisyros, the "PSERIMOS" Surveillance Outpost, the Holy Monastery of Saint John the Theologian in Patmos, the National Guard Battalion of Patmos and the "LEIPSOI" Surveillance Outpost.
Mr. Davakis met with personnel of the Armed Forces, conscripts, and National Guardsmen, the local representatives of the Regional and Local Self Administration, as well as of religious authorities.
The Deputy Minister, while addressing the personnel and the conscripts of the Armed Forces, stated the following:
"I wish to express my sincere gratitude, on behalf of the Hellenic State and the Greek people, and congratulate you on the high sense of responsibility, devotion and professionalism that you demonstrate every day, here in particular, at the outposts of the frontline, the islands of the Dodecanese.
Your presence here is a guarantee of security for our country.
I wish with all my heart a blessed Resurrection Day and a Happy Easter!
