An unidentified male pedestrian was fatally injured Monday at 1:45 a.m. at Harding Place and Donelson Pike.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian, who was not wearing any clothing and acting erratically, was standing in the middle of the intersection when the driver of a tractor trailer attempted to avoid hitting him. The pedestrian jumped onto the tractor trailer and then fell back onto the roadway where he was struck by the rear of the trailer. The driver stopped and remained on the scene. The pedestrian was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.
There was no evidence of impairment on the part of the driver. The Medical Examiner is working to identify the pedestrian through fingerprints.
