Meeting of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia with the Deputy Director-General of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs

On November 5, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Davit Karapetyan had a meeting with the delegation headed by Johannes Luchner, Deputy Director-General of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs.

Davit Karapetyan welcomed the Visa Liberalization Action Plan for Armenia presented by the EU side, and noted that it constitutes a major step forward in deepening Armenia-EU relations, fostering mobility and people to people contacts, as well as cultural, academic and professional ties. It was emphasized that Armenia is committed to the effective implementation of the Action Plan, which is fully aligned with the democratic reforms agenda of the Government of Armenia.

The interlocutors stressed the importance of the recent achievements in the Armenia-EU partnership. The Secretary General touched upon the Լaw on Launching Accession Process of the Republic of Armenia to the European Union , presented to the National Assembly of Armenia as a civilian initiative, and highlighted the creation of a new European Integration department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a reflection of expanding the Armenia-EU partnership.
